TRAINING COURSE ON FARMER – LED EXTENSION

The Training Course on Farmer-Led Extension (FLE) was held last July 23-27, 2012 at the City of Springs Hotel in Los Banos, Laguna.  The activity was participated by 18 farmer leaders and magsasaka syentistas.  FLE approach aims to hasten technology transfer by harnessing the work experience and capabilities of farmers in combination with the scientific knowledge of agricultural extension workers.

Participants were given updates on the AgriPinoy Framework and Food Staples Sufficiency Roadmap as well as lectures/discussions on the FLE Approaches, Adult Learning, Facilitation Skills, Responsible Adult Communication,  Presentation Skills and Visual Aid Preparation.  Additional inputs on Sustainable Agriculture and Livestock Production were also provided.

On the last day, each participant were given time to use the inputs when they presented their selected topics for microteaching activity.  It was an unforgettable experience for them having attended this training according to one of the participant.  The activity was led by Mr. Rolando Maningas as Project Officer. ■

REGIONAL CONSULTATION FOR MAGSASAKANG SIYENTISTA ON THE TECHNO GABAY PROGRAM

The twenty one (21) MS of Region 4A and 4B were gathered together for a Regional Consultation on June 4-5, 2012 for them to be updated on the changes brought about by the weaning out of the Techno-Gabay Program from PCCARRD to ATI this year and complete turn-over of the program by 2013. They identified among themselves someone who will represent the MS of Region 4A and 4B in the National Assembly of MS in Dakak, Zamboanga del Norte. Engr. Edgardo Marino was chosen to represent Region 4a. On the 2nd day, they visited the Kahariam Farms in Lipa City owned by Mr. Ramon Bagatsing. ■
